my special place #1

Posted by Kathryn (Warburton, Australia) on 7 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Here is one of my entries for Kylie's theme today. I have found it really hard to pin-point one particular place as being special to me so have decided to extend the theme over the next few days.

This image is of Mt Cook taken from the Hooker Valley Track. Mt Cook (Aoraki in the Maori tongue) is the tallest mountain in New Zealand and Australasia, standing at around 3754 metres (12, 316 feet).

This mountain had a huge impact on me a couple of years ago when I first visited NZ as it began my love affair with the whole country. It was the first place I visited when touring around and, being an Aussie, this mountain was completely different from any other I had seen before. I have since visited the area a further 2 times and it hasn't lost any of its majesty in my eyes.

I was so inspired by it that I ended up getting a tattoo of the mountain a little while later as a constant (and permanent!) reminder of its beauty and the inspirational results of the geological forces in play!

Thank you all so much for your lovely encouraging comments. I am getting quite busy and am finding that i don't have a lot of time for both photography and maintaining this blog as much as i would like to so i probably won't be able to reply to each and every comment from now on but i promise i will eventually get around to visiting your blog! Happy snapping everybody!

Kaha the Kiwi has set off again on his journey around the world to see all of his AM3 friends. Keep up to date with his adventures on his own blog here. Safe travels Kaha and i hope you have a ton of fun!

Thanks for viewing my photograph!
All feedback, especially constructive criticism is welcomed and very much appreciated. Enjoy your day!
