sunrise

I took this out the window of a sleeper train I was on in Thailand in April. The sleeper trains in Thailand were good compared to others that I have been on - though there was still the odd encounter with a cochroach in your bed - a good enough reason as any to sleep with iPod headphones in your ears all night!!!

Thank you all so much for your lovely encouraging comments. I am getting quite busy and am finding that i don't have a lot of time for both photography and maintaining this blog as much as i would like to so i probably won't be able to reply to each and every comment from now on but i promise i will eventually get around to visiting your blog! I'm not sure how iPods ward off roaches, but then, I've never been to Thailand. [g]

The windows on the train must have been pretty clear--the detail is surprisingly good for an out-the-window shot.

@Doug: yeah i was pretty surprised too when i saw the pic! the headphones stop the roaches crawling into your ears and laying eggs (if that is what they do!) - it is just a slight phobia of mine!!! haha. Thanks Doug!

This is a nice shot! The colors are great and the comp is very interesting with the trees and what looks like a dome of a building ?? I think overall there is an air of mystery about it.

@PD: Thanks PD for the great feedback! yeah I don't know what that is either - my guess is either a temple or a really big tree! haha. I agree with your point about the 'air of mystery' - especially as I snapped this image just after waking up and having no idea where I was!

I would've mistaken this to be taken in the Philippines if not for those pines at the distance. Interesting contrast of growths on the same landscape.

@Nan: yeah I agree. That is interesting about the Philippines - i haven't been there yet but would like to sometime. It was taken in Southern Thailand somewhere close to Surat Thani. Thanks Nan!

@Florence: Thanks Florence - the composition, I must say, was kinda luck - I literally woke up, looked out the window, grabbed my camera and snapped. I was really amazed when I saw the result as I was simply trying to record the sunrise in a snap-shot fashion.

just a beautiful proportion of sky!! :) wonderfully done -- i am imagining this as an exotic sunrise over a tropical forest in the times of the Jurassic era!! imagine all the strange noises!! faaabulous!

@dj.tigersprout: yeah i can hear them too - great imagination dj! really it was waking up on a smelly hot and crowded train with hair all askew and a guy yelling 'Good Morning Orange Juice' haha - let's stick with yours though yeah!?!
