travertine

another mineral in my rock collection!
This was taken using my macro diopter lenses and for this image I probably used all four lenses (+1, +2, +4 and +10) together to achieve maximum magnification! I like the trick this image (and the mineral) plays on the eye - one minute the waves will be rolling one way, then suddenly it will invert and they will be rolling the other way.

to see a pic of another of my favourite rocks look at this image a posted earlier this month.. .no wait... last month - my gosh it is December already!!!

NOTE: i forgot to mention that this is a capture of a flat surface of the rock and in real life the area of this image is probably only about 2cm across

Thank you all so much for your lovely encouraging comments. I am getting quite busy and am finding that i don't have a lot of time for both photography and maintaining this blog as much as i would like to so i probably won't be able to reply to each and every comment from now on but i promise i will eventually get around to visiting your blog! Happy snapping everybody!
