Austrailian-ness!

I am unsure of the reason why i like this photo but i think it may have something to do with the 'australian-ness' of the gum trees - that which i always miss when i journey overseas. This was taken at one of the many cherry farms in the Yarra Valley close to where i live and where i have been working sorting the cherries for the last 2 weeks.

Thank you all so much for your lovely encouraging comments. I am getting quite busy and am finding that i don't have a lot of time for both photography and maintaining this blog as much as i would like to so i probably won't be able to reply to each and every comment from now on but i promise i will eventually get around to visiting your blog! Like it a lot Kathryn!! Its the gum trees and the way the lines of bushes lead you up the hill to the trees and sky! Really interesting composition:-)

Yes I think it is the lines of cherrys compared to the unruly but beautiful gum!

Gum trees. I would never have known. It does have an "Australia" look, although I can only say from having looked at photos.

Beautiful groves of trees. I have never seen gum trees before. Do they have a lot of leaves or are they always this bare? Looks nice.

@Charles: Thanks Charles! Yes they do have a lot of leaves and yes they are always this bare - haha! the leaves appear mostly at the tops of the trees and from the small branches - to give you some idea, some of the gum leaves can be seen just behind the tree on the right. I think there are a few different types of Gum trees though but they always seem to have the beautiful eucalyptus scent and are the types of leaves that our gorgeous Koalas eat.

I love the curve of the land as it seems to sweep me into the space of the image. It feels like I could just hike up over the hill and discover something new sitting between the green leafed trees in the distance.

@Caldwell: sorry to shatter the imagination - but there are just more bloddy cherry trees over the hill!!! haha. nah actually there is a lovely view over the top of them - pretty similar to the view in this image. Thanks for explaining the effect this image had on you Caldwell! have a nice day!
