Sunrise over Warby

Posted by Kathryn (Warburton, Australia) on 28 February 2009 in Landscape & Rural.

All went fairly well yesterday with the fires and we were able to return to our homes late last night. Looks like the next bad day fire wise will be on Tuesday so we may have to evacuate again then.

I took this picture the other morning as we were evacuating the valley for the first time.

FIRE UPDATE (2nd March): We are evacuating again today in preperation for really really bad fire weather again on Tuesday - reports say that the conditions are almost as bad as 'Black Saturday' (3 weeks ago) and our previous huge bushfire disaster 'Ash Wednesday' in 1983. Our town SHOULD be ok as the fire fronts that have been threatening us have supposedly moved a little further West now but the conditions will be bad so it is better to leave. Not sure when i can post next but we should be safe down at my relatives' house in the suburbs. Hopefully i will back to posting regular HAPPY images soon - Summer is officially over afterall!!! Surely these fires can't go on forever.... can they?!?! haha. WE NEED RAIN!!!!

Thank you all so much for your lovely encouraging comments. I am getting quite busy and am finding that i don't have a lot of time for both photography and maintaining this blog as much as i would like to so i probably won't be able to reply to each and every comment from now on but i promise i will eventually get around to visiting your blog! Happy snapping everybody!
